When registering your board through Board Checkup, you will be asked to enter your name and e-mail address and provide other information as needed as the registered coordinator of the self-assessment. By registering as coordinator on behalf of your board, you consent to the use of information that you and members of the organization provide about your board. It is important to note your name and email will be associated with each and every survey collected on behalf of your board. This procedure ensures protects board confidentiality and participant privacy.
What do we use your information for?
Please know that the identities of the coordinators that register are password protected. The email address the registered coordinator provides will be used to a) facilitate the assessment process b) update the coordinator on the progress of the assessment (e.g response rate) and c) request a copy of the final report for the board. The information gathered will also be used to evaluate, improve and develop new services. It will also be used by Professor Cafk Harrison who as a professional researcher will statistically analyze it from time to time to produce practical insights for boards as well as published academic papers and research reports on the state of nonprofit board effectiveness in Canada and other countries throughout the world.
How do we protect your information?
We have implemented a variety of measures to ensure the information we collect is secure and private. This website and the information transmitted to it is via Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology certified as secure. We employ programmers to upgrade the software and maintain the integrity of the website and management information system. The server is secure and the professionals we employ are under contract to maintain our system and keep all information associated with it confidential.
We are in compliance with relevant Canadian legislation and the requirements of COPPA (Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act). Our website, services are all directed to people who are at least 13 years old or older.
How long do you have access to your information?
The assessment information for your organization will be accessible to those who register as coordinators of the assessment and those who take over the role. Assessment information will be stored in the registered coordinator's dashboard accessible by a unique id and password.
How do you give consent?
By registering for the board self-assessment, you will be asked to provide consent on behalf of your board to the use of data outlined in this policy.
